Sorin’s schooldays began at St Mary’s on Rathlin Island. This lovely girl describes life on Rathlin as being at a slower pace, but says that it is a brilliant place in which to grow up. She has become more aware of the importance of environmental protection - particularly wildlife. She has two younger sisters and three dogs. Sorin keeps fit by attending the gym, and she also enjoys listening to music. Family holidays abroad have instilled an interest in travel; she wants to continue her experiences of other cultures and traditions. When deciding on a secondary school, there was no decision to be made! Her memories of visiting CPC were that it was so warm and welcoming, the pupils had so much respect for their school and were proud of it. Sorin loves her school community; there are opportunities for everyone and your voice gets listened to. She also has positive memories of lockdown learning, and enjoyed the live history classes when she was in KS3. Her favourite subjects are business studies, geography and biology. Sorin wants to go to university and study a degree in a business-related discipline.
Liam began his school life at St Patrick’s, Loughgiel. He is the youngest in his family, and has two older sisters. His mum is also a former pupil. Sport was definitely one of the main reasons Liam came to CPC. But, because his friends were coming, and it had a good reputation academically, the decision wasn’t difficult. This modest and talented young man loves sport and plays football and hurling, the latter for club, school and county. Liam’s sporting career has seen him play on winning McNamee and Leonard Cup teams. More recently he was a member of the Mageean team. He is a keen skier, and enjoys gliding down the slopes in France. Liam describes CPC as a tight-knit school with a great sense of community. He is enjoying the sporting opportunities, has made numerous friends and is excelling academically. Liam’s favourite subjects are maths, PE and geography. In the years ahead, Liam would like to go to university to study physiotherapy or sports rehabilitation. He is a keen traveller and has already visited various parts of Europe, including Spain, France and Italy.
