“The study of English seeks to develop the ability of pupils to communicate effectively, appropriately and accurately in speech and writing; to understand and respond imaginatively to what they hear, read and experience in a variety of media, and to foster their appreciation and enjoyment of literature.”
Key Stage 3
Northern Ireland New Revised Curriculum incorporating Reading, Writing, Speaking and Listening under the strand of Communication.
Key Stage 4
At Key Stage 4 we offer GCSE English Language and Literature – CCEA and Entry level English.
Post-16
AS/A2 English Literature.

Notable Achievements
All pupils enter exams at Key Stage Three and GCSE and achieve a level or grade.
Percentage of A-C grades at GCSE remains consistently high. In English Literature at this level there is a 100% pass rate.
In AS and A2 examinations we have also annually attained a 100% pass rate. In recent years two students have gained full marks in the Shakespeare module at AS and in the Perspectives on America unit at A2.
